Once again the Darley Moor Motorcycle Club and the Long Circuit Kart Club had ordered good weather. It only seems like yesterday since we were at Snetterton, but a month had passed and we had the same warm weather. This was to stay for the day with a few spots of Rain. The 125 Open Superkarts were out on their own for both races.

We have 3 drivers joint leading the championship, Louise Colin, Lee Morgan and Danny Edwards. What would the end of the day bring.

The 15  minutes qualifying session proved interesting.  We had Edwards on Pole with local Butler, Willshire filling the front row. Row 2 was Morgan and Reid. Louise Colin suffered a nip in qualifying and was staring at the back.

The pack creped up to the line with Edwards controlling the pack. The flag dropped and Willshire went backwards to 6th due to snatching second to quickly. James suffering a clutch problem also struggled to get away. Meanwhile the pack was through the Park and out of sight . As they came in to sight for the first time it was Butler was leading Edwards, Reid, Morgan, and the Northern Ireland driver Ian Gilpin in 5th.   Coming to the end of the the first three were in the same order.  Morgan and Willshire had passed Gilpin out of the top Hairpin. Willshire made his move in to 4th at Paddock Bend.  Colin was back on the pace and pushing hard and by lap 2 was in 6th behind Reid. Gary James was back in 8th with Hutton in 9th. On lap 3 Edwards made his move and took the lead. The order stayed the static until the flag but the racing was close and tight.

Fastest Lap. Edwards - TM / F1 - 1:01.85

Edwards (3) leading Butler (84) and Reid (20) in Race 1

With the grid for race 2 determined by race 1 results we had Edwards, Butler and Reid on the font row with Willshire and Morgan on row 2. This start was cleaner and they all got away without any problems.

Edwards, Butler and Reid lead the pack aroun to the end of the first lap. The pack were chasing hard behind. On the first lap Morgan had managed to get passed Willshire who was being pushed by Colin.

Lee Morgan (0) leading Willshire (5), Colin (4) and Gilpin.

At the pace quickened Morgan went in to 3rd demoting Reid back to 4th on lap 2. By lap 3 Morgan was up to 2nd and chasing down Edwards. Butler lost out to Reid by the end of lap 2. The pack had tightened up and the racing was close for the next 3 laps. Reid managed to get back passed Butler on lap 5 with Willshire and Colin closing on Butler.

Edwards leading Morgan on the final laps of race 2

Out at the front Edwards and Morgan were inseparable with Morgan playing the waiting game. On queue Morgan decided to go for the lead n the last corner by Edwards had it covered and shut the door at the last minute. It was side by side to the line with Edwards getting there first by 0.06 seconds. Behind it was Reid, Butler, Willshire, Colin and Turner. Northern Ireland driver taking 8th with James 9th and John Hutton 9th.
